The Church of Fifi & Fanny: James Brown Qwanzaa
Fifi & Fanny are proud to announce their upcoming live show "The Church of Fifi & Fanny: James Brown Qwanzaa," showing one weekend only December 28 and 29 at the Shari Carlson Studio in San Francisco's Union Square. If you are tired of organized religion, come to this service- it's anything but organized! The newest installment of Fifi & Fanny's mock church services features guest preacher The Great Zamboni, Berkeley-based comedian Jordan Winer. Whether you were raised in the church or stay far, far away from it, this production is sure to make you want to say "Kujichagulia"!
San Francisco-based comedy duo Fifi & Fanny are healing the world one laugh at a time. Starring Carolyn Eidson as "Fifi" and Stephanie Lynne Smith as "Fanny," this service will explore the principles of Kwanzaa with a Queer twist. Along with Rabbi Kosher Hotdog and the Un Choir, A Choir of Uns, including Scott Turco, Tom McElroy and Jacqueline de Muro, Fifi & Fanny are sure to make you laugh. Their last show "The Church of Fifi & Fanny: Harvest Mooning" drew praise from church lovers and neophytes alike. "I nearly wet my pants during the acclamation" praised Grace Renaud, worship leader for MCC-San Francisco. "It took me forever to stop laughing! It was hysterically funny, especially if you know anything about church!" A worship associate for Grace Cathedral admits she had to go "check it out" first before declaring the services safe for her co-workers to attend. "The hymn "Something Different" still makes me chuckle. I can't wait for the next service. I marked it down on my calendar the minute it was scheduled. I'm a fan."
All shows at 8pm and tickets are $15, $20, $25 available in advance on BrownPaperTickets Search: Fifi. A portion of the proceeds from these mock church services goes to benefit the Joshua Cameron Scholarship for underprivileged youth in acting. While you're at it, visit www.fifiandfanny.com and pick up a DVD and give your friends and family the gift of healing laughter!
