This event will be held in Del Rio and will be a two day camp ending with a mash-up bout on Sunday. This camp is open to all intermediate and advanced skaters, Ref's & NSO's as the main focus will be how to play Roller Derby not how to skate... We only have 50 spots available so be sure to sign up quickly as they will go fast.
Proof of insurance will be required and we will have options for purchasing USARS on-site. Also, you won't want to miss out on a camp/bout t-shirt with all the participating leagues logos on the shirts!!
Price of camp is $35 for one day and $55 for both. This price includes camp Plus bout. We are also offering a "non-skater" price @$20 per day for bench managers, coaches, and trainers.
Now, about Ziv Kruger , Where do I start: :)
Ziv has been coaching Roller Derby since December of 2006, making 2012 his seventh season as a coach. His coaching experience draws from his background as soccer and basketball coach and player, as well as his personal experience with weightlifting, running, cycling, skiing, tennis, and raquetball - in which he once held the North Texas University Campus Champion title.
Ziv has taught in Blood and Thunder bootcamps in Cleveland, OH; Corpus Christi, TX; and this year in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Ziv has coached WFTDA sanctioned bouts for Alamo City (San Antonio), Assassination City (Dallas), Brew City (Milwaukee), Green Country (Tulsa), NoCoast (Lincoln), and Oklahoma City's Victory Dolls. His solo bootcamps to date were hosted by ICT (Wichita), NoCoast (Lincoln), Green Country (Tulsa), Queen City (Buffalo), and The Beach Brawl Skater Dolls (Fort Walton Beach).
Ziv has also help select and train coaches for OKVD, Green Country, and NoCoast, and his "coach the coach" sessions were very popular at Blood and Thunder's Abbotsford, BC camp.
Ziv's Roller Derby experience dates to March of 2005 as official photographer for the Texas Rollergirls. Since that date, his work has included shooting over 1,000 bouts, including 27 tournaments, in 29 cities and 16 states within the United States and Canada. In addition, Ziv has been a featured columnist for Blood and Thunder magazine since 2006, and has covered the WFTDA Championships for WomenTalkSports.com. His work has appeared in major newspapers, magazines, websites, a television series, a documentary film, and a Simon & Schuster book.
Ziv was the Media Chair for the 2011 World Cup in Toronto, and his responsibilities included recruiting the 22 official "stills" photographers and the video crew, as well as drafting both the stills and video contracts on behalf of the tournament's management. Ziv was also the liason for the local Toronto press and the international press from the 13 participating countries. As a bonus, Ziv was tasked with checking the passports of the participating World Cup skaters to ensure that they were eligible to skate for the country they asked to represent. Saludos!
