Rejoice! A Classical Christmas
Bellingham Chamber Chorale opens its tenth anniversary season with "Rejoice! A Classical Christmas" at First Congregational Church, 2401 Cornwall Ave, on Saturday, December 1, at 4:00 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and $5 eighteen and under. Tickets can be purchased in Bellingham at Piper Music, Village Books, The Community Co-op, in Lynden at The Noisy Neighbor, atbrownpapertickets.com and at the door. For more information visit bellinghamchamberchorale.org

The holiday concert features Daniel Pinkham's "Christmas Cantata" for mixed chorus and double brass choir, Kirke Mechem's "Seven Joys of Christmas" for mixed chorus and solo harp, as well as a wide variety of accompanied and a cappella seasonal choral works ranging from the Renaissance to modern times.

"We've chosen repertoire that showcases the full range of Bellingham Chamber Chorale's artistry and the beautiful acoustics of First Congregational Church," says Ryan Smit, BCC Artistic Director. The chorale will be accompanied by a chamber ensemble of regional instrumentalists featuring members of the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra. Keeping with the theme of the concert, the Chorale will perform a set of Christmas motets by Francis Poulenc, a contemporary setting of three 16th century Spanish Christmas carols, Vaclav Nelhybel's "Estampie Natalis" and other Christmas choral masterpieces."

"This season Bellingham Chamber Chorale celebrates ten years of creating excellence in choral performance," said Roger Clark, President of the Board of Trustees and choir member. "Since our founding in 2003 by Tim Fitzpatrick and now in our second year of under Artistic Director Ryan Smit, Bellingham Chamber has flourished as an intimate, chamber chorale of high quality regional singers presenting diverse and challenging repertoire for its growing audiences. Ryan Smit's experience with the Grammy-award winning Phoenix Chorale, coupled with the robust choral program he has developed in Lynden is continuing Tim Fitzpatrick's legacy of high quality, ground-breaking and heart-moving choral music in the north Puget Sound. We look forward to sharing our 2012-2013 concert season, and hope community members join us for our December 1 holiday concert."

Bellingham Chamber Chorale has been invited to perform with the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra for its holiday concert on Sunday, December 2 at 3:00 pm at The Mount Baker Theatre. A portion of BCC's December 1 concert repertoire will be featured as part of the WSO concert on December 2. For more information visit whatcomsymphony.org
