The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Northampton High School presents the Tony Award-winning musical about spelling, and also about life. Six tweens, navigating their individual journeys through the awkward years of middle school, come together at the regional spelling bee to face the challenges, obstacles and rewards of striving to win. Standing alone, taking risks, making mistakes, and sometimes, somehow, correctly spelling ridiculous words, we get to witness each contestant begin to crack the hard surface of the assumptions, stereotypes, and embarrassments they each must contend with on their road to becoming themselves. This show is a delicious treat of humor with a little something for all of us. It is a celebration of individuality, and the courage it takes in finding it.
