A packed to the gunnels cabaret evening of comedy, magic, music, burlesque and the downtright bizarre. Taking place in the Southside of Glasgow's new number one hot spot of a venue, The Glad Cafe. Sarcassy will be presenting a fantastic line-up showcasing some of the excellent talent the Southside has to offer and special guests Cat Aclysmic and Homesick Aldo. All are getting together to promote, raise funds and give a taster of the inaugral Southside Fringe which aims to put the Southside firmly on the Glasgow arts map with a fortnight of arts and entertainment spanning the Southside in May 2013.
The Impov Dogs
"Comedy improvisation based on audience suggestions. We play improv games and act out scenes and scenarios derived from suggestions garnered from audience members. Deeply irreverent, outrageously funny and not for the faint-hearted."
"Sketches, musical comedy and improvised lunacy from your favourite comedy pooches."
Cat Aclysmic
"Cat Aclysmic is the ultimate Southern Belle gone bad born and raised in the heart of Dixie, this tattooed temptress left her homeland to raise a little havoc on UK shores." "A tease of mind and body" -The List
Homesick Aldo
"Homesick Aldo is the sort of guy that should get a standing ovation every time he walks into a room. Boasting funny hair and a ridiculous mastery of the harmonica, this young lad made a wonderful racket in his short time onstage. With his harmonica and his beat-boxing, Aldo channelled the sounds of Sonny Terry and Duster Bennett with a bit of Sonny Boy Williamson thrown in for good measure with frightening alacrity. In short, he's good. Go see for yourself." -Review by Bluesbunny
Andrew Learmonth & Guest TBC Executive Committee of The GSR
" A movement and a state of mind"
"We aim to create not only the first independent republic within Glasgow's boundaries, but a truly funky republic. This can happen with the help and participation of you, the downtrodden, the hopeful and the huddled." - El Presidente
"Change is sweeping the South Side of Glasgow. A movement, a revolution .. Indeed the first outing of this gala night resulted in a sell-out show, with people being turned away at the doorWith El Presidente Morton at the helm the South is sure to be liberated and entertained in some equal measure." - The Skinny
Stuart Thomson
This Southside master of magic has been entertaining Southside audiences as the resident magician for the monthly meet of the GSR. Sleight of hand and reality defying marvels are this man's mesmerising material.
