Holiday Harmony Concert
Harmony Fusion Chorus, an award-winning women's A Capella barbershop show chorus will perform and host Mt. Eden High School Chamber Choir of Hayward and Ladies First Chorus of Concord High School with performances of Holiday songs for the audience's listening pleasure!
Harmony Fusion Chorus brings women together from all walks of life and diversity in harmony through music. Harmony Fusion Chorus is committed to musical excellence and education. The women enthusiastically come together to share the joy of singing four-part, A Capella harmony in the barbershop style. The women of Harmony Fusion take pride in involvement in the community and strive for innovative entertainment and diverse membership.
Ladies First is a select barbershop group comprised of singers from grades 10-12. As the schools singular barbershop choir, the group has taken top honors at festivals in Boston, Las Vegas, Seattle, Hawaii, San Francisco, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Chicago and Vancouver, Canada. In 2005, Ladies First received official recognition from Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for their selection as Californias representative choir chosen to perform at a series of concerts honoring military veterans over Memorial Day at the Nations Capitol in Washington D.C. In 2006, the group was awarded a gold medal at the New York Choral Festival for their performances at Lincoln Center. Well known throughout the San Francisco bay area, Ladies First has been a featured group for the San Francisco Giants, the Oakland Athletics, the Golden State Warriors, and the Oakland Holiday Parade. The groups appearances for television and radio include: NBC, KTVU Channel 2, and KFRC Radio.
Mt. Eden High School Chamber Singers - Comprised of thirty-two auditioned singers, the Chamber Singers is the top group out of a six-choir program involving roughly 130 students at Mt. Eden High School in Hayward, California. They have been widely recognized by the American Choral Directors Association as one of the top five high school chamber ensembles in the state of California. They do exchanges and festivals with many local Universities and Colleges including CSU, East Bay, San Jose State University, Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo, and San Francisco State University. They also perform with the world-famous Chanticleer Mens Ensemble in workshops and public performances from time to time. Choral Directors at the college level actively recruit and offer scholarships to students who are in this ensemble. They have performed at conventions for The American Choral Directors Association, The California Music Educators Association and the Kodaly Music Educators Association of America. They have twice been named the top high school chamber choir in the state of California by the American Choral Directors association. They were awarded this title in 2004, 2013, and most recently once again on May 17, 2016 as the winners of the prestigious California Golden State Choral Competition. This competition invites only the top 10 chamber choirs from recognized high school programs throughout the state of California. The choir has had distinct honors over the years, including performances with the San Francisco Symphony and Chorus. In the fall of 2015, they were given the Hayward Historical Societys History award. They perform annually with the Oakland Symphony in their holiday Break Bread concert to much acclaim and are wildly applauded by the appreciative standing-room only audiences. On Sunday, May 10, 2015 the once again performed at Carnegie Hall under the invitation of MANHATTAN CONCERT PRODUCTIONS at Carnegie Hall in New York City. On the horizon for the 2016-2017 school year is a tour of California Colleges and Universities throughout the state, affording the students an opportunity to not only visit various institutions, but to also do exchanges and performances with collegiate choirs from across the state.
