Magic of Venice
The city of Venice has long played an important role in the history of music, but never more so than during the 17th century. During this time, the Venetian state was often called "Republic of Music." It was home to brilliant composers such as Vivaldi, Gabrielli, and Monteverdi, the site of the first public opera houses in Europe, and the "breeding ground" for every conceivable variety of virtuoso musician. Join 45th Parallel for an evening of enchanting musical treasures from the Floating City.
Performers include Greg Ewer, Adam LaMotte, and Sam Park, violins; Nathan Whittaker, cello; John Lenti, baroque guitar and lute; and Arwen Myers, soprano.
