Kirk Concert & Master Class Series presents Jerico Vasquez, piano
Hailed for his formidable and effortless playing and intelligent ardor and exceptionally clear and bright technique, pianist Dr. Jerico M. Vasquez received his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Piano Performance in the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston under Ruth Tomfohrde. Dr. Vasquez is Artist-in-Residence / Associate Professor of Music and Coordinator of the Keyboard Program at Shorter University in Rome, GA. Recent performances include numerous solo recitals in the southeast United States and the Philippines, a concerto performance with the Rome Symphony Orchestra (2015), and collaborative performances with the Balkan String Quartet, vocalists Ann Cravero, Indra Thomas, Eric McCluskey, and Chuck Chandler, and pianist Rebekah Jordan-Miller. Dr. Vasquez has won numerous competitions including the UCSB Concerto Competition, the Pillsbury Foundation Competition, the Santa Barbara Performing Arts Foundation Competition, and the Léni Fe Bland Foundation Competition. He is also the recipient the Ojai Festivals prestigious Charlotte and Alvin Bronstein Award, Capitol Records Nat King Cole Memorial Scholarship, and the University of California Regents Scholarship. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honorary Society. As a pedagogue, Dr. Vasquez has been an active member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Georgia Music Teachers Association, and the Rome Music Teachers Association.
