Sex.   Scandal.  Soap.  It must be EMPIRE.

EMPIRE, the Indie Soap Award winning web serial, returns in July 2012 for it's hottest season ever.  The new season was filmed primarily on location in the Hamptons and finds the Havens, Livelys and Reeds deeply entangled in a sinister murder mystery.  While the murder investigation goes on, secrets are revealed and new alliances are formed.  Desire, sex and even love will be discovered in the most unlikely places, but by the end lives will be forever changed and the three families will be rocked to their core.

Fritz Brekeller is a native New Yorker. He is a director, producer and writer who has worked extensively in the New York soap opera world for the past twenty years and received multiple Emmy and DGA award nominations.

Television directing credits include numerous location sequences for ABC's All My Children, as well as the cable cult hits, The Uncle Charlie Show and the underground gay serial Sixth Floor Harrison. As a stage manager: One Life to Live; Guiding Light and All My Children. Prior to working on the studio floor, he served as production assistant and coordinator for As the World Turns; The City and Another World. Most recently, he directed the fourth season of the hit internet soap opera Empire which will premier in July 2012.

He is currently in post-production for the feature film, What Would Bear Do?, which he co-directed with Josh Folan and will be released fall 2012. Other film credits include assisting Director Steven Williford on the indie feature (and festival fave), The Green, which stars Jason Butler Harner, Cheyenne Jackson, Illeana Douglas and Julia Ormond. From 2003 to 2008, he was a Field Producer for Soapnet's Daytime Emmy Red Carpet show, working intimately with hosts including: Finola Hughes; Terri Ivans; Ty Treadway; Walt Wiley and Rebecca Budig.

Keeping in theme with his soap roots, Fritz's most recent stage endeavor, All My Problems is a spoof about the cancellation of All My Children. Other New York theater credits include: Mirror Mirror on the Wall (selected as part of the 2011North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival); House; Boys' Life; The Hunt for Treasure; My Life as You; The Elevator - Secret Thoughts; Mimosa Pudica and many staged readings. For the Internet, he has produced and directed the web series Suzy and Duddy and NY2 with Margo Rose Ferderer, and acted as First Assistant Director and Associate Producer on the web soap, Gotham starring Martha Byrne and Michael Park.

As a writer, he has co-authored books with Julie Poll on the complete histories of the long running (and Emmy Award winning) serials, Guiding Light and As the World Turns.

In addition to being a director, he has also taught acting and audition techniques at the prestigious Stage Door Manor Performing Arts Center.

Currently he is writing the horror screenplay, Weekend in the Country, as well as developing several dramatic television pilots and reality series.

About The After-Set Independent Film Program

The Program is operated on a weekly basis depending on availability on the screening room at Tribeca Grand Hotel. As a courtesy, we do not charge the filmmakers to screen their films and we allow them to showcase their work to their own audience. However, we do ask for an online admission to keep the program running and we give a weekly contribution to Healing The Children Northeast, an organization that helps doctors travel abroad and operate on children who need medical assistance. For more information please visit www.htcne.org. If you are a filmmaker and would like to screen your work with us, feel free to email us atnyc@after-set.com
