Never, Enough, Better, Nothing
Never, Enough, Better, Nothing Featuring The Bipeds and Curtis Ellers American Circus June 3rd and 4th at 8:00pm, **Post-show concert June 4th The Shed, 807 E. Main Street, Suite #130 (Golden Belt), Durham, NC 27701
(Durham, NC) Are we ever really doing enough? Maybe not, but it is probably better than nothing.
Never, Enough, Better, Nothing is an evening-length collaboration by The Bipeds dance company and Curtis Eller's American Circus, directed and choreographed by Stacy Wolfson. Current Bipeds collaborators include Renay Aumiller, Amanda Beaty, William Commander and Alyssa Noble. Curtis Ellers American Circus features Curtis Eller on lead vocals/banjo, Shea Broussard on harmony vocals, Dana Marks on harmony vocals, Jack Fleishman on drums and Hugh Crumley on bass.
This work is an attempt to blur the lines between musicians and dancers, as well as an exploration of finding balance within life and relationships, family dynamics, and the sometimes humorous, sometimes negative and disorienting emotions that can arise from feeling out of balance. Stacy is specifically inspired for "Never, Enough, Better, Nothing" by the love/hate dynamic between her two daughters.
After watching Curtis live in concert, Stacy was inspired to build a show that would highlight his unique vocals and highly physical performance style. Stacy and her dancers have incorporated Curtis throughout the show, not only by way of song, but also by integrating some of his physical mannerisms into the choreography.
Tracks featured in performance span Ellers discography, and include Sweatshop Fire, Two of Us, Dry Lightning, and Thunder and Beehives. Curtis Ellers American Circus will perform in concert directly following the performance on Saturday, June 4th.
