John McCutcheon Concert
John McCutcheon, an American folk music singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and master storyteller, has written hundreds of songs and garnered more than his share of accolades. His eclectic catalog of ballads, historical songs, children's songs, love songs, topical satire, fiddle and hammer dulcimer instruments, and even symphonic works are among the broadest in American folk music. His thirty-six albums have earned 6 Grammy nominations. His songwriting has been hailed by critics around the world; his song Christmas in the Trenches is considered a classic and was recently named one of the 100 Essential Folk Songs.
McCutcheon will perform a benefit concert for Solomon's Song Non-Profit Organization. Solomon's Song was created after Solomon Elhindi, the fourteen year old son of Carol and Mohamed Elhindi passed away. Solomon was a gentle, kind soul committed to helping his friends and family to live to their full potential. Ask his classmates and they will tell you, "Solomon was a good friend to everyone." All proceeds of the concert will go to promote mental health awareness, suicide prevention and diversity.
Patty McCutcheon will be interpreting the performance in American Sign Language.
