Images 16
On May 27th, 2016 The Orchestra On The Hill, in cooperation with other local visual artist, animators, composers, dancers and poets will feature a collaborative concert at the Ipswich Performing Arts Center called Images 16. The purpose of this effort is to collaboratively explore the similar creative process involved with the artist. The process in which the artist prepares for this concert will strengthen their artistic relationship, and thus the overall cultural health of the community. The performance will provide a multifaceted experience for the audience. A new appreciation and understanding of our rich artistic culture will be realized. There will also be an educational element involving student poets and animators.
Images 16, more specifically will involve a cooperative effort among the artist. Composer Robert Bradshaw from Gloucester has written a musical composition inspired from visual artist John Stobart who frequently paints historical maritime and other New England scenes. Stobarts painting will be given to poetry students at Salem State University. There will be a contest for the students to realize a poem which will be used during the musical performance of Bradshaws work. Composer G. Paul Naeger has derived his musical inspiration from a poem by Aline Blanchard, an Ipswich resident. Composer Chris Florio, also Ipswich resident will write a musical score that he will give his animation students in Boston. They will create an animated interpretation of Florios work. Local and celebrated photographer Stoney Stone will derive a series of works inspired from a newly written musical composition by New England composer, Kay Barney. Dancer Anna Lisa Ledson, originally from Ipswich and now working in New York City will choreograph a dance inspired from composer Warloks Capriol Suite for strings. Thomas Palance, musical director and creator of this project has given his musical composition to Ledson so that she may create a dance interpretation. Ledson , will send a new dance to Palance and he will compose a new piece connecting the others inspired from the dance.
