Pakistani movie "Shah" and Q&A with filmmaker Adnan Sarwar
From the un-paved streets of Lyari, a sprawling urban slum, comes a moving story of courage, passion and hope. Rising from the ashes of a thousand garbage fires, Syed Hussain Shah's journey takes him from a life of hunger and hard labor to the highest honor in the world of sportsmanship - an Olympic medal.
Shah is the story of a homeless orphan - a "footpathiya" - who is driven not by money or fame but an overwhelming desire never to sleep on the siodewalk again.
Shah will make your heart swell with pride, pound with excitement, and sink in shame. This is an emotional roller coaster ride of a movie - a 'moving picture' both literally and figuratively.
It is AADI'S honor to host the filmmaker, Adnan Sarwar, for this film event. Sarwar will talk about his own journey and what inspired him to rescue Shah the boxer from neglect and oblivion, and resurrect him as the hero he deserves to be.
