BOULDER: Mountain Magic w/ David Sheingold, Sam Rae and HOLLY
Come out and support some local musicians as they embark on a national tour!
Don't miss this very special gathering of community and live + local acoustic music as David Sheingold and Sam Rae kick off their upcoming Aquarian Dream Spring Tour to celebrate David's new album 'Aquarian Dream.' You will be craddled by intimate sounds amongst great folks with a mix of live cello, acoustic guitars and vocals; a unique dance between soul-filled folk and imagination in the moment.
The night will consist of a solo set by HOLLY, a set by Sam Rae on vocals, cello and guitar, a set featuring the new release of David Sheingold, 'Aquarian Dream,' and a truly unique collaboration of David and Sam Rae exploring the voice of intention and free flow through music.
David Sheingold is a local performer of Boulder who recently returned from a national tour with "HOLLY" and Ken Strinfellow (REM, The Posies, Big Star) as both an opening act and member of the band. Most recently, David recorded his first album ft. some of Colorado and the nation's most prolific folk musicians including members of both "Brandi Carlile" and Boulder local "Gregory Alan Isakov." David's music combines folk instrumentals with a very dynamic range of explosive, Jeff Buckleyesque vocals.
Once a Boulder local, Sam Rae represents midwestern blood as she ventures around the US with her cello. Sam Rae most recently embarked on an un-amplified acoustic 'Pin Drop Tour' with Brandi Carlile and band. Now exploring new combinations of cello, voice and guitar she captures the euphoria of music through live improvisation, exploring her instruments as a way to interact and react in the moment. She reveals the process of creation to her audience by shaping intricate layers with her loop pedal, adding deep harmonies and playful melodies to create a unique language of music.
Holly Muñoz (aka HOLLY) is a musician and songwriter from El Paso, Texas. She has made two records with John Vanderslice at his all-analog studio, Tiny Telephone: Maps and Lists and #2 Record, a double LP featuring Alan Sparhawk (of Low), Ken Stringfellow (of R.E.M., Big Star, The Posies), Andy Stochansky (of Ani DiFranco), and John Hermanson (of Storyhill). She is also one-half of Holly & Ken, an indie country opera project with Ken Stringfellow featuring guest artists Vicki Peterson (of The Bangles), Matthew Caws (of Nada Surf), Keren Ann, Shelby Earl, and Country Dave Harmonson.
