Pakistani Folk Musicians and Rock Concert
Four groups with Solo vocalists, folk musicians, sufi style poets and qawaals and a hit Pakistani rock band are flying into Austin to be a part of the festival. They will have a special performance for the local Austin community at St. Andrews High School on Sunday, March 13 at 3:45 p.m.
Bands include Wahid Allan Faqir, Mai Nimani, Imran Aziz Mian and Overload.
Mai Nimani and Wahid Allan Faqir will sing and dance in colorful attire on their own melodious tunes. Their style is sufi with a local touch. Imran Aziz Mian will perform qawaali while Overload is a Pakistani rock band.
This showcase is a project of FACE Foundation for Arts Culture and Education, an Islamabad-based organization whose mission is to strengthen, empower, and educate communities through the universal language of arts and through cultural interactions. Support comes from the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy, Islamabad.
