Plastic Animals Album Launch
Plastic Animals release 'Pictures From the Blackout' on 8th February, and on the 29th January we are holding a launch party at the Wee Red Bar.

They define themselves as atmospheric sludge rock, and that works pretty well for me. It's indie rock, I suppose, but flavoured with shoegaze and krautrock (particularly in some of the longer ones), and in fact, as can happen with this kind of music, some of the longest and most impenetrable tracks are probably the album's standout songs.

To say that things around Plastic Animals tend to move slowly would be an understatement. Apparently they've been around in one form or another for as long as Eagleowl, who are a sort of Edinburgh byword for taking your own sweet time with your music, but Eagleowl's debut album came out in 2013 and erm... here we still are.

"A safer bet there's never been  this record is essential." - GoldFlakePaint

"Imagine the euphoric pop of Small Wonder getting caught in a time warp to the wild west with Modest Mouse's 'Satin in a Coffin' and you just about scratch the surface." - DIY Mag

"I was taken aback by its apparent simplicity; a simplicity that at first masked a wealth of subtle nuances, wry homages, and nostalgic narratives that were enough to make listeners lament growing up anywhere other than suburban America." - The Line of Best Fit

"Oh, god. Help me, words. Help me convey what a blessing Frog is." - Collapse Board
