Social + Film: "Movement and Location" (2014) + Meet the Filmmakers
"Movement and Location" is an award-winning 2014 production from the talented team of Bodine Boling (who wrote and starred in the film) and her husband Alexis Boling (who directed). Also starring are Catherine Missal, Brendan Griffin, and David Andrew Macdonald.

Although sometimes referred to as a sci-fi thriller, the film has no special effects and very little sex or violence. It is ultimately about the immigrant experience and people's need for connection. (In this case, the main characters, instead of being from another country, just happen to be from hundreds of years in the future.)

After the screening, the Bolings will take questions from the audience.

SYNOPSIS:

Kim Getty (B. Boling) is a "stranger in a strange land". An immigrant from 400 years in the future, she has used a time-travel service to escape her own bleak era and try to create a better life in present-day Brooklyn.

For some interesting background, here is an ad (not seen in the film) for the company, offering to send people back in time:

Unfortunately, the journey was strictly one-way and Kim's experience in the 21st century has been difficult. Now, after three years, she has a job, an apartment with a roommate, and is even falling in love. But when she meets a homeless teen (Missal) in the park who is also from the future, the identity Kim has managed to construct is suddenly threatened. And as her secrets are exposed, she must decide how far she is willing to go to keep the new life she has built....
