SongSalon: B is for Britain!
The Coffeehouse Club
New York City, NY
Share this event:

In 1924 Benjamin Britten heard Frank Bridge's music for the first time and was "knocked out". In 2015, SongSalon presents "B is for Britain", offering a look at the song output of these two notable Britons. Come join us at the Coffeehouse for an evening full of great songs, cocktails and conversation. If you are starved for more, stay for dinner with the artists following the event!

SongSalon is a program operating under the auspices of Joy In Singing, a nonprofit organization.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

HAI-TING CHINN, mezzosoprano, takes time out from her busy international season schedule to appear on this event. Hai-Ting is known for the role of Belle in Phillip Glass's La Belle et la BĂȘte. She has performed with New York City Opera, The Wooster Group, OperaOmnia, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic, Orchestra of St. Luke's, and the Waverly Consort; and regularly premieres contemporary vocal works. She is an Artist in Residence at HERE arts center in NYC. www.hai-ting.com

A newcomer to the New York City classical music scene, tenor JASON WEISINGER is already in demand as both a singer and classical vocal collaborative pianist. He recently finished his vocal performance studies at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and has appeared at Tanglewood and Songfest. Jason is thrilled to have an opportunity to appear as a soloist with SongSalon. www.jasonweisinger.com

Composer and collaborative pianist JAMES BASSI appears regularly as a collaborative artist in both the classical and Broadway theater worlds. His compositions have been heard at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and other major venues, and he has received composition grants from NEA, Meet-The-Composer, and New York Foundation for the Arts. Mr. Bassi's commissioned oratorio "Five Prayers" premiered earlier this year in Minneapolis. Recently he has appeared at 54 Below in NYC and at Feinstein's in San Francisco as musical director for actress Tovah Feldshuh. www.jamesbassi.com
