RESTLESS CITY: LHAAFF CLOSING NIGHT CELEBRATION
Langston Hughes African American Film Festival is proud to announce its Closing Night Film, RESTLESS CITY. Join us for a powerful film, filmmaker dialogue and Closing Night Reception.
Directed by Andrew Dosunmu, RESTLESS CITY tells the story of an African immigrant surviving on the fringes of New York City where music is his passion, life is a hustle and falling in love is his greatest risk.
RESTLESS CITY was an official selection at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. RESTLESS CITY is not just about the immigrant experience and the distorted American dream, RESTLESS CITY is a love story set in the background of New York City's Canal Street. Shot in 18 days for under $100,000, RESTLESS CITY breathtakingly captures the streets of New York City and embraces you with truth and poignancy.
RESTLESS CITY is directed by Andrew Dosunmu, from a screenplay by Eugene Gussenhoven. Katie Mustard and Matthew Parker produce, with executive producers Audra Alexxi Jones, Munu Elifituri, David Raymond and Tony Okungbowa. The film stars Sy Alassane, Nicole Grey, Danai Gurira, Anthony Okungbowa, Babs Olusanmokun. Cinematography by Bradford Young, with editing by Oriana Soddu and costumes by Mobolaji Dawodu.
