Singer Chamber Players
My dear Ojai friend and cellist Virginia Kron recently joined The Singer Chamber Players. This stirring new quartet combines passion, lyricism and infectious musicality. Their goal is to thrill, excite and entertain classical music audiences of all ages.
The intetion of this concert, held in the Music Room at Glen Muse, is to celebrate and to manifest peace and healing. As Ojai recently became an International City of Peace, and as the International Day of Peace was celebrated on September 21st, this is an auspicious time.
The concert will feature "The Quartet for the End of Time" by Olivier Messaien. David Singer writes:
"The Quartet For the End of Time" is very likely the greatest piece for wind/string chamber music written in the 20th century. Intense, scary, sublime, mystical, incredibly beautiful, the "Quartet" was written during the composer's imprisonment in a prisoner of war camp during WW2.
In addition, I've invited the chamber players to consider music to support our theme of "sound healing". So in the second half, listeners will be invited to relax on futons and absorb some musical selections of peace and joy in what might be a less intellectual and more embodied experience.
Tickets $25 through this site or $30 at the door.
