SFNM2 - The Southwest Festival of New Music
Santa Fe New Music presents SFNM2 - The Southwest Festival of New Music, a three-day festival of new music and commissions from leading composers of our time. In celebration of the centenary of John Cage, the festival explores the theme of "Music as Environmental Consciousness", with music by today's younger composers who carry the spirit of Cage forward. The festival includes three different concert programs as well as one special late-night concert:
June 21 7:30PM Music of John Cage, Nathan Davis, David Dunn, John Kennedy, and Steven Paxton
June 22 7:30PM Music of John Cage, Lisa Coons, David Dunn, and Michael Pisaro, with the premiere of Nathan Davis' "Weather Rock" (SFNM2 Commission)
June 22 10:00PM Premieres and electronic music by Nathan Davis, Philip Mantione, and Christopher Marianetti
June 23 7:30 PM Premieres of SFNM2 Commissions by Lisa Coons, Christopher Marianetti, and Christian Wolff, as well as music by David Dunn and John Kennedy
