Ben Holmes & Patrick Farrell at the Little Shul
After working together for years in bands covering many genres, Brooklyn-based trumpeter Ben Holmes and accordionist Patrick Farrell focused on a tragically neglected art: duo music for trumpet and accordion. Thus, they have arranged and written a repertoire of vivid musical scenes, ranging from the 19th century Salons of Paris to rural life-cycle celebrations to mid-20th century SoCal poolside decadence, culminating in cosmic despair and ultimate triumph, as music for trumpet and accordion is wont to do.
Returning to the Little Shul in Philadelphia, the duo will premiere several movements of a cycle of music based on Edgar Allen Poe's "The Conqueror Worm" in addition to exploring klezmer and other Jewish music forms in honor of the holidays.
