The goals and concerns expressed by community members in the public participation process are the essence of what policy makers use to chart our path forward. But sometimes that path can take unexpected twists and turns when participation is weak and doesn't reflect important demographic trends. The half-day "Get There!" workshop is a call to action to those working in the public forum to exalt equity as a critical planning element. Tom Sanchez, co-author of the books Planning as if People Matter, The Right to Transportation: Moving to Equity, and The Social Impacts of Urban Containment, will highlight the latest strategies and tools to ensure that strongly supported plans are developed and implemented for the growing diversity across the American landscape.
