T Sisters with Hollis Peach (members of Patchy Sanders)

California born and raised and now based in Oakland, the Tietjens have been singing together their whole lives. The three sisters, typically accompanied by upright bass, guitar, banjo, percussion and mandolin, captivate audiences with close harmonies, inventive arrangements, and plenty of sass. When performing their lively set of originals and coverssometimes in arresting a cappellathey call to mind classic girl groups: from the Andrews Sisters and The Ronettes to The Roches and the Dixie Chicks. Touching on elements of folk, Americana, gospel, R&B, bluegrass and soul, the T Sisters weave evocative stories with a sound that is at once modern and timeless.

Notable performances in 2014 include Merlefest, Kate Wolf Music Festival, High Sierra Music Festival, Palisade Bluegrass and Roots Festival, Sisters Folk Festival, Strawberry Music Festival, Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival, and Prairie Home Companion, as well as supporting Amos Lee, Chris Smither, The Waybacks, Laurie Lewis, Elephant Revival, California Honeydrops, The Brothers Comatose, and more.
