AMERICAN TEACHER SCREENING AT THE ROXIE
Support Sherman Elementary School and our Teachers by attending a fundraiser screening of AMERICAN TEACHER at the Roxie Theater in San Francisco on October 12th at 6:30 p.m. Following the screening, co-producer, Ninive Calegari, and others participating in the film will join the audience for a Q&A session on the making of the film and the issues addressed by AMERICAN TEACHER. AMERICAN TEACHER chronicles the stories of four teachers, Erik Benner, Jonathan Dearman, Jamie Fidler and Rhena Jasey, who live and work in disparate urban and rural areas of the country. By following these teachers as they reach different milestones in their careers, the film tells the deeper story of the teaching profession in America today. AMERICAN TEACHER was directed by academy award winning documentary film director, Vanessa Roth and narrated by Matt Damon. It is based upon the New York Times best-selling book, Teachers Have It Easy: The Big Sacrifices and Small Salaries of America's Teachers, co-authored by David Eggers and Ninive Calegari.
Funds raised by this event will go to sponsoring our teachers' tickets to the screening and for the general support of our school community.
