The Jitterbug - Launch Party
It gives us great pleasure to announce to you, the launch of Nottingham's newest night: The Jitterbug.
Created by the people who love Electro swing, for the people who love Electro swing.
Join us as we transport you back to the 1920's and 1930's where national and international acts bring you the latest and greatest in all that is swing and beyond. The Jitterbug turns classic swing on its head, giving it a healthy dose of bass, creating an infectious blend of music that is irresistibly danceable. Prepare to be amazed by a colourful array of live acts, DJ's and performers, while FREE swing dance classes give you the moves to keep you shaking to the early morn. The Jitterbug is brought to you by Jamko, Das Motz and King Ragtime who have been at the forefront of the swing scene in Nottingham, while also appearing at many other events across the UK.

There will be a FREE dance class beginning at 9pm and is limited to 50 people (20 guys and 30 girls). To sign up for the class please write your names on the event wall (https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=152642084827304).
Although not compulsory, dressing up is strongly encouraged for the evening to help build the atmosphere. Here's a few ideas to get you started: 1920s Flapper, 30s Glamor, Pearls, Feather Boas, Flat Cap, Top Hat, Trilby, Waistcoat & Braces, Dinner Jackets & Bow Ties. To give you a little incentive we will be having our very own photo booth on the night where you can get your snaps taken. *Kiwistar*
Kiwistar is a Parisian electro-swing DJ, swinging on the new electro wave, mixing Jazz styles including French touch and Dubstep. For the last two years he has put the heat on at French, English and German parties composing and decomposing the Doo Be Doo swing style with Bart & Baker, The Correspondents, 6U5, Dutty Moonshine, Swing Republic.
At the end of 2010, Kiwistar was voted third best DJ at the Electro Swing People's Favourite 2010 organised by the French Jazz Radio and Trax magazine.
Kiwistar is currently working on his first EP, with Josh et Le Chat to be released at the end of the year.

*Das Motz*
Das Motz is a DJ and promoter from Frankfurt, Germany. Since moving to Nottingham he has played at countless venues across the city including residencies such as BaaBar and Rock City. Getting involved in more defined genres such as Electro House, Maximal and Electro Swing, gave him the opportunity to grow as an artist. Now, he is a resident at Market Bar's: The Black Sheep on Saturdays and staying true to his genres has enabled him to DJ both nationally and internationally. As for his style: expect the unexpected which makes for some ridiculous combinations of sounds that make people go crazy.

*Jamko*
Nottingham based DJ, promoter and producer: Jamko, has been pushing the Electro Swing scene in Nottingham since September 2010. By being heavily involved with the genre he was invited to perform at Oxford's premier Electro Swing event, The Vaudeville Rave, whilst also securing himself a residency at Market Bar's Saturday night The Black Sheep. He has filled supports for electro swing pioneers such as Dutty Moonshine, DJ Switch, Kormac and Smokey Joe & The Kid. Jamko's sets contain a unique blend: 1 part Hip-Hop, 2 parts House, a squeeze of Electro and a dash of Dubstep served over hot Jazz and Swing beats. Warning! This music should be consumed responsibly.

*King Ragtime*
London-based saxophonist known around the festival and party scene for his spontaneous walkabout performances: solo, over DJs and with a variety of other musicians. He has blown his horn at Rumpus, Vaudeville Rave, Playgroup Festival and other events in Nottingham and around the country, tonking out hot Swing, Blues, Funk, Progressive Rock and Psychedelica.
