Kate Reid is on tour across Canada releasing her third album "Doing it for the Chicks".

Kate's second album, "I'm Just Warming Up" (2009) thrust her onto the map that is the Canadian folk music scene: she was voted Favourite New Discovery of 2009 by Penguin Eggs Magazine critics, received a 2009 Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for Best New/Emerging Artist and a 2010 Toronto Independent Music Award nomination for Best Acoustic Album.
Reid is now releasing her third studio album, "Doing it for the Chicks". But, she doesn't bring all those gorgeous women you see on her new album cover on stage with her. When she performs, it's just the flaming-red, faux-hawked folkie with her guitar and a holster of harmonicas delivering incisive, often irreverent songs and hilarious stories mixed with thought-provoking kernels of activism and social commentary. "Doing it for the Chicks" is the title track of this new release. It's a song she wrote in response to someone who had agreed to host a house concert for her in their home before realizing that, not only is she queer, she sings about it, too. Well, sometimes she sings about it. But Kate Reid sings about a whole lot of other things, too. Produced by Adam King (Good Lovelies) and Kate Reid, "Doing it for the Chicks" is a brilliantly written, 12 track album that includes such titles as: Captain Cupcake and the Cambie Hotel, Ain't No Drama Queen, Crying Holy, My Baby's in the Beer Tent Again, Closet Femme, Tie On One and Tie the Knot, Steal Me Away and Revolution.
Think spoken word meets folk music. Poetic slam-storytelling meets country. She's kind of like DeGeneres meets Dylan. Cho meets Dixie Chicks. Arlo meets k.d., with a little Ferron on the side and you'll get the idea. That's Kate Reid.
