Kansas Burlesque Festival
In conjunction with Topeka's First Friday ArtWalk on October 2, the Kansas Burlesque Festival will feature a free burlesque style art show from 5-9 and the classic movie, The Lady of Burlesque starring Barbara Stanwyck, at the Jayhawk Theatre at 720 SW Jackson at 8:30. Tickets for the movie are $10.
On Saturday, October 3, doors to the Jayhawk Gallery at 720 SW Jackson will open at 5:30, and Luis' Place will be serve a wonderful dinner at the Jayhawk Theatre at 6pm, followed by a burlesque show at TPAC at 8:00. Jayhawk dinner tickets are $35 (a portion of this amount will go directly toward the restoration of the Jayhawk Theatre) and can be purchased here. Tickets for the Live Burlesque Show at the Topeka Performing Arts Center are $30.00 and need to be purchased on the TPAC website at http://www.tpactix.org/.
"Burlesque is a growing entertainment industry that has been around for years," said Rosa Cavazos, tourism development manager at Visit Topeka Inc. "Visit Topeka is thrilled to be partnering with Jayhawk Theatre and AOZ Magazine to bring this great community-centered event to the capital city, and to support a historical landmark at the same time."
