KATE REID | Doing it for the Chicks in Toronto, ON
Kate Reid is on tour this fall with her latest CD release "Doing it for the Chicks".
Kate Reid is a lesbian singer-songwriter and musical comedienne who sings boldly, and sometimes heartbreakingly, about lesbian life. But not before getting people of all orientations and walks of life on-side with her outrageous sense of humour and her giddy, self-effacing schtick. And, she has just released her third studio album entitled, "Doing it for the Chicks". What else but quadruple-entendre humour, cherry flavored cigars and a hilarious album cover that paints her as a misogynistic femme rapper can one expect from one of the queerest straight (but hardly straight) shooters in contemporary music these days.
Her sophomore album aptly titled, "I'm Just Warming Up", was voted Favourite New Discovery of the Year in the 2009 Critic's Poll in Penguin Eggs (Canada's folk, roots and world magazine), earned a 2009 Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for Emerging Artist of the Year and scored a 2010 Toronto Independent Music Award nomination for Best Acoustic Album.
