The L.A. Choral Lab is proud to kick off its second season with WATER GAMES, an evening of new, old, and rediscovered choral music.
Join us as we invoke the ocean with Frederic Delius' "To Be Sung of a Summer Night on the Water." Stay in the flow as we present "Songs of the River," a rediscovered set of late-19th-century part songs by little-known British composer Frederic Cowen. Bathe in the sound of Ravel's "Jeux d'Eau," in a brand new arrangement for solo piano with choral accompaniment. This concert features music for all tastes, including Renaissance motets, spirituals, and pop/rock a cappella arrangements.
WATER GAMES will also feature new and recent works by local Los Angeles composers William Malpede (www.williamvmalpede.net), Dale Trumbore (www.daletrumbore.com), and Luke Flynn (www.lukeflynncompositions.com).
The L.A. Choral Lab will present this program once more at the beautiful Zipper Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.

THE L.A. CHORAL LAB is a Los Angeles-based chamber choir dedicated to the performance and promotion of new classical choral music. The 24-member ensemble was formed in early 2014.
"Natural showmanship and sincere enthusiasm make obsolete the gimmicks other new groups tend to cling to. This ensemble is just really damn good, and they let music and skill and passion speak for them." Lauri Goldenhersh, LaurisList.net
Their inaugural performance, INTRODUCING THE L.A. CHORAL LAB, was given at Zipper Concert Hall in September 2014. Their sophomore project, MISSA URBIS ANGELORUM, culminated in March 2015 with the premiere of a brand-new 45-minute cycle for choir, piano, cello, and timpani, with six Los Angeles composers each contributing a movement to the suite. WATER GAMES kicks off the L.A. Choral Lab's second season.
