The "San Luis Brewers Guild" is planning their 3rd annual "Brews & Bites" on (as always Saturday of Labor Day weekend) September 3rd in the Mission Plaza in San Luis Obispo from 12-6 pm. The guild is made up of breweries based in San Luis Obispo County and they will once again showcase their craft beers together with foods from local restaurants. Local bands will also complement the beer and food all day long, so come down to the mission to enjoy the flavour of the Central Coast.

This year we are offering only one package. For $30 you will receive the commerative BREWS & BITES pint glass and 25 four-ounce taste tickets. There are no individual sales of tickets or pint glasses.

SPECIAL PROMOTION PRICE: Buy your tickets before AUGUST 1, 2011 and receive a $5 discount per ticket!

You must be 21 to buy tickets and taste beer.  If you do not want to taste beer (we don't know why you wouldn't),  the Mission Plaza is open for all to come and enjoy the sights & sounds of this yearly crowd pleaser.

This year we will be including 2 new breweries out of northern Santa Barbara county. Don't miss it!

Note: No one under 21 will be allowed to buy tickets or taste beer.

Q&A

Question: will there be more breweries this year?
Answer: YES! We are adding 3 new breweries, including Figueroa Mountain, Rooney's Irish Pub which also brews on site, and Pismo Brewing. We may extend the invitation to our friends in the Santa Barbara area, but we are somewhat limited on space at the Mission Plaza.

Question: Any idea who the music will be yet?
Answer: We have booked "Lakes" for the event, and the other 2 slots are still to be determined.

Question: will Kern River Brewing Company or Hollister Brewing Company going to make it? Those would be two much better choices than Rooneys and Pismo brewing.
Answer: We are speaking to Hollister and will keep you posted. Not sure about KRBC, we will see. Keep an open mind and remember, we are here to showcase beers/breweries of SLO County, now including a bit of SB County. More love!

Question: Will you be listing the different food vendors? Also, I've been to Hollister and Pismo, Pismo was much better. Inviting a SB Brew and not a SLO Brew would be plain rude and disrespectful, no matter one's opinion. :) Thank you.
Answer: We will post food vendors as they are added. Pismo Brewing has already confirmed, still no contact with Hollister. Almost all SLO county brewers will be present, and we asked the newcomers in Northern SB County to join us this year.

Question: does the 30$ include the food? for example, when I use a taste ticket, will a food item be paired with the beer for no additional cost?
Answer: No, the $30 does not include food. All food vendors are selling on a cash basis. We hope to integrate the "pairing" idea in next year's event.

Question: Is there a limit to how many tickets will be sold or can we purchase "at the door?"
Answer: No, there is no limit. Ticket sales are on a "first come first served" basis at the door.

Question: Three of us want to come. Two are non-drinkers. Can we buy the one ticket and just wander around with the person who will be tasting?
Answer: The two who are non-drinkers do not have to pay to get in. They can come to the plaza and simply enjoy the sights and sounds of Brews & Bites.

Question: I'm knocked up, so I'll be the woman who will be eating like hell while her husband indulges in brews. Is this event closed off? Will I still have to purchase a ticket even though I will not be drinking?
Answer: Firstly, congratulations on your pregnancy. Secondly, glad to hear that your husband has a designated driver. You do not need to buy a ticket, one of the great things about this fest.

Question: Can you share tickets and a glass with another person who is over 21?
Answer: Yes, you may share a glass. Make sure both of you get carded & a wristband.
