Resonance @ First Church: French Organ and Choral Music
Completed in 2006, the First Church organ is renowned across the Bay Area for the beauty of its sound, especially in the French romantic repertoire. First Church organist Elizabeth Forsyth will showcase the organ through works by César Franck, Maurice Duruflé and Charles-Marie Widor. She will also provide the accompaniment for Gabriel Fauré's masterful Requiem, sung by the First Church Festival Chorus under the direction of Derek Tam.
*** About Resonance @ First Church
First Church Berkeley, a premier venue for music performance in the East Bay, has created its own exciting series of chamber and orchestral music concerts, featuring artists from the Bay Area and beyond.
Music has always been an important part of the life of First Church Berkeley. It touches the soul and gives sound and voice to ineffable mystery. We sing together and share our musical gifts. We also delight in the special talents of artists from within our community and beyond.
First Church is on the south side of the UC Berkeley campus just west of Telegraph Avenue. It is a few blocks from the Downtown Berkeley BART and accessible by several bus lines. Some paid parking is available in the church parking lot.
