About the performer:
A brilliant mandolinist who has forged his own inimitable musical path, David Grisman is known far and wide for his "dawg" music, a jubilant, highly intricate, harmonically advanced hybrid of many different stylistic influences (swing, bluegrass, Latin, jazz, gypsy). In addition to his own renowned groups including David Grisman Quintet, Old and In the Way, and the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience (DGBX), David has recorded more than 40 albums (five of which won Grammy nominations) with notables including Jerry Garcia, Stephane Grappelli, the Grateful Dead, John Hartford, Del McCoury, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Early Scruggs, James Taylor and Doc Watson.
We are delighted to have David Grisman performing with his wife Tracy as an acoustic duo. Tracy's artwork will also be available for purchase. To see a recent performance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78UR-BAZIWk&feature=related
Tracy Bigelow Grisman sings and plays swing rhythm guitar and bass with the Rivereens in Petaluma, California, where she lives with her husband, David. Her watercolors and oil paintings of musical scenes and musicians from the 1930's and 1940's express her appreciation of the music from that era and the gifts of American culture.Tracy's art work has graced the covers of numerous CDs including Been all Around this World - Jerry Garcia & David Grisman, 100% Handmade Bluegrass andAcoustisc Swing(Acoustic Disc,) Gypsy Rumble - Stephane Wremble & David Grisman (Amoeba Records) and The Green Room - Hot Club Sandwich (Hot Records.) Tracy and David Grisman have performed together occasionally for the past several years, appearing in concerts with Tuck and Patti, Joan Baez, Steve Earle and others. Examples of Tracy's unique artwork may be seen at her website Oldtimeyart.com.
