ANDREWS LIVING ARTS brings a little tongue-in-cheek humor to downtown Ft. Lauderdale with the classic musical comedy/horror, LITTLE SHOP OF HORROS which is a rock musical, by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman. Pure family entertainment, the plot centers around a hapless florist's assistant who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film, THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, directed by Roger Corman. The original music was written in the style of the early 1960's rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown. The score includes several well-known tunes suck as the opening, "Downtown, Skid Row", "Somewhere That's Green," and "Suddenly Seymour."
