Fountainsun (Daniel Higgs & Fumie Ishii)
Underground music icon Daniel Higgs (Lungfish) and Fumie Ishii perform as Fountainsun inside of an 18th century stone barn. They will joined by Philadelphia's Geb the Great Cackler for an initimate and highly-charged evening of musical performance. Refreshments will be provided by The Random Tea Room. Doors at 7 p.m.
Fountainsun:
The core members are Fumie Ishii, of Tokyo and Daniel Higgs, of Baltimore. Both committed, through sound and gesture, to participation in a song-sustained state of higher communication with all present at live concert events and in daily life.
Stylistically, the duo employs a universal-folkpsalm form, with voice, strings, drums, etc., an "all are welcome" sound. The Fountainsun album, Music Today, is being prepared for release in 2015. MOST ANCIENT-FOREVER NEW
Geb the Great Cackler:
The members are Mandy Katz on fiddle and percussion, and Justin Duerr on guitar and percussion. Both sing, and both are also visual artists living in Philadelphia.
Their music draws on a diverse array of influences to produce a unique, one-of-a-kind sound. Various strands of folk music and punk rock are woven into their pattern, but the result is something other than the sum of its parts. Their goal is to cultivate and harness their own special garden of music/poem/picture power and to bring new and old listeners/viewers inside to share in the creation/elation/exaltation.
The music of Geb the Great Cackler is being offered for a limited time only, so act now before the time and people that bring you this music have passed into the underworld once more.
