Ernest Ranglin at Side Door Records: Record Release Concert

Legendary Jamaican jazz guitarist and ska music pioneer Ernest Ranglin will mark the release of his 31st solo album with a one-night only concert on Thursday, July 9 at Toronto's Lula Lounge (1585 Dundas St. West). Ranglin will be joined onstage by a who's who of Toronto's jazz and reggae scene: MIchael Arthurs; Alexander Brown; Shane "Shaky" Forrest; Bobby Hsu; Bill King; Dave West; and Everton "Pablo" Paul, the album's executive producer. Juno Award-winning reggae artist Dubmatix will open the show.

A working musician since 1947, Ranglin was awarded the jamaican Order of Distinction in 1973 and he has worked with many of reggae's greats, including Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Prince Buster and Monty Alexander. He was also a regular session guitarist and music director at Studio One and Island Records in Jamaica.
