10th Annual Jewel Awards Banquet
The Jackson Madison County African American Chamber of Commerce (JMCAACC) will host the 10th Annual Jewel Awards on February 25, 2011 at New St. Luke Activity Center. Deborah Manning Thomas, a well-known gospel singer from Memphis, will be the featured entertainment at the Jewel Awards as she performs songs from her titled role in "Mahalia," now in its third season at Memphis' Hattiloo Theater. Her acting credits also include "The Firm," "Black Snake Moan" and "Hustle and Flow." More than 325 people attended last year's banquet featuring The Fisk Jubilee Singers. You are invited to join us for this outstanding Black History Month event honoring member and non-member small business owners. Tickets are $40 each.
In addition to recognizing outstanding small business owners, the J.E.W.E.L awards, "Joining Entrepreneurs with Enterprising Leadership," raise funds for the association's youth development program, "Follow Me into Business." JMCAACC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1999. The organization promotes the economic growth and development of member businesses, fosters youth entrepreneurism, and is spearheading grassroots community redevelopment in the East Jackson area. "Follow Me into Business" was launched in 2002 to prepare students for success in the world of business. This year-round program includes training for middle and high school students, summer jobs and community service.
Sponsorships and booklet ads are available by calling the African American Chamber at 731-424-2030. Donations are tax-deductible.
