Octopi Entertainment presents No Joy (Mtl) + We Need Secrets + The Graboids | Gus' Pub - April 4th
Octopi Entertainment is pleased to announce Montreal based No Joy, returning to Halifax on Saturday, April 4th after two high energy HPX performances in 2013. Doors will open at 9PM with the show beginning at 10PM. Tickets $12 advance and $14 at the door. Supporting the show will be Halifax's Graboids + one more TBA.

NO JOY

We could say a lot of things about the debut album from Montreal/LA ladies No Joy: that it fully delivers on the promise of their Mexican Summer 7", that it builds upon the revitalization of shoegaze pop in recent times with a melodic fervor and angst that many of their contemporaries fail to capitalize on, that their records look and sound gorgeous, that there are moments on Ghost Blonde that match the challenges laid down by My Bloody Valentine and Lush years ago. We could say those things, but then what would the bloggers think? Probably the same. Oh well. We said it. Killer record from a band to be reckoned with. Ten new songs that'll singe your eyelashes off. -Mexican Summer

WE NEED SECRETS

Melancholy and the Archive is the first full-length release from Nova Scotia, Canada's We Need Secrets, the pet project of Chad Peck (Kestrels, Noyes Records). All songs were written, recorded, and performed by Chad, with guest appearances by ANGO, Elliott Frazier (Ringo Deathstarr), Paul Brown (Kestrels), and Omar Husain (Aim Low). Frazier also mixed the LP, which was mastered by Bob Weston of Shellac.

For fans of: My Bloody Valentine, Swirlies, Eric's Trip, Slowdive, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Ringo Deathstarr, Lilys

GRABOIDS

Self loathing party animals sing garage punk songs about drinking too much, smoking too much, eating too much and aging too much. The Graboids live show is alcohol fueled and as chaotic as possible using all bodies in attendance as potential props. They have released 2 EPs and continue to keep a close connection to the cult classic that is their namesake.
