Bach at the Thomas-Schule
Berkshire Bach has begun its 20th performance season, and our Music Director, Dr. Kenneth Cooper, has created a full year of programming around "The Many Faces of Bach." This choral concert, Bach at the Thomas-Schule, brings the Berkshire Bach Singers and our choral director, Frank Nemhauser, together in a rousing production, conceivably straight out of the Master's music classroom. Come hear three settings of the chorale tune Wachet Auf! ruft uns die Stimme ("Wake up!" cries the voice to us). You'll hear the famous setting of Bach's Cantata 140, which includes some of Bach's most familiar tunes. You'll hear settings of Wachet Auf by one of Bach's sons, J.C.F. Bach, and also by Felix Mendelssohn, who used the Wachet Auf chorale in his oratorio Paulus (St. Paul). AND… you, the audience, will get to sing along. So WAKE UP, come to listen and come to sing with us!
