Akha Women's Foundation Movie Fundraiser at Harkin's Shea 14
Come watch a short documentary about the Akha Hilltribes people. Then watch "The Social Network; You don't Get to 500 Million Friends without Making a Few Enemies", the story behind the founding of Facebook. It is directed by David Fincher, screenwriter- Aaron Sorkin.  Cast:  Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, and Rashida Jones.  Peter Travers of Rolling Stone says "The movie of the year that also brilliantly defines the decade."  Following the movie we'll have door prizes, raffle and more!!!  Your ticket price goes to support a wonderful cause and you get to have a nice evening out!

The Akha Women's Foundation is a non-profit 501(c3) designated charitable organization founded to empower the Akha women of Thailand by providing them with vocational and primary health care programs.

The Akha Women's Foundation provides an opportunity for the young women of the villages to be trained in the techniques of traditional Thai massage. It also recruits volunteers to teach English and provide vocational training, such as sewing machine operation and health care, that helps the women support their families.

The Foundation supports the Akha projects through donations and fund-raising tours. Winnie Cain personally leads tours to visit the Akha villages, receive training in Thai massage and healing, and experience the wonderful culture and lush landscapes of Thailand.

Vision Statement:
To create an environment that will enable Akha Women and girls to improve their lives, and therefore the lives of their families and their communities.

Mission Statement:
To raise funds and sponsor projects that will finance efforts to save Akha women and girls from exploitation and poverty by making higher education, vocational training, and better work opportunities a possibility for them.

Invite all your family and friends and come have a wonderful evening with us. If you can't make it, buy some tickets as a gift for employees, friends or family members.  You can also help by donating items for our door prizes.   Thanks for your support!  Thanks also to Harkin's Theaters for donating the theater for this event.
