2010 Concert for Lost Voices
Once again some of the finest talent in folk blues and rock music will descend on Whitmore Lake for the fourth annual Concert for Lost Voices. The Concert has become a landmark on the Whitmore Lake calendar, and is the most important single fundraising event of the year to enable Lost Voices to continue their work with incarcerated and at-risk youth. This year the Concert will offer a few new twists.
For one thing, the venue will leave the lake and move to The Barnstormer at 9411 E. M-36, 48189. Mike Ball, Lost Voices founder and Concert MC, explained the move; "As much as we loved doing the event on the water's edge, we were way too vulnerable to weather. Also, we are excited to be at The Barnstormer, where we can accommodate more people and provide a terrific variety of food and entertainment. It will be a great Concert this year."
The Concert will feature performers from past years like Josh White, Jr., Kitty Donohoe, Reverend Robert Jones, former Silver Bullet Band drummer Charlie Allen Martin, Salem Witchcraft singer Arlen Viecelli, Cliff Gracey, Mike Ball (with his trio, Dr. Mike and the Sea Monkeys), and a capella group Soulstice. New on the bill this year will be the hauntingly original music of Annie and Rod Capps.
There will also be an added rock-and-roll vibe. "For the first time, this year's concert will be on a Friday night," said Ball. "At about 10:00 we will shift gears from the folk and blues round-robin and rock it out until midnight with the original Salem Witchcraft, Detroit's favorite band from the '70s, and the fantastic classic band Backstage Pass."
Tickets will be $20 in advance and $25 at the door for general admission, and $50 for Gold Circle Reserved Seating. Student tickets are avaialble for $15.
Barnstormer barbecue and beverages will be available for purchase. Doors open at 6:00 PM. For more information on the Concert please go to http://lostvoices.org.
