Songs of Love (For Better or Worse)
The First Unitarian Congregational Society will present a Valentine's Day concert, Songs of Love (for Better or Worse), featuring the congregation's four professional soloists under the direction of Adam Podd, Music Director, and his brother Matt Podd. Love has been a favorite topic of composers and lyricists since the dawn of music. From opera and art song, to Broadway and the American songbook, composers have explored heartache, happily-ever-after, and everything in between. The evening will feature a program of joyful arias and tragic torch songs as four of New York City's most talented singers share the stage in First Unitarian's historic Gothic Revival Sanctuary in Brooklyn Heights. Vocalists Marielle Murphy, Melissa Paul-Perez, Dominick Corbacio, and Jon Dendy will sing music by Bernstein, Puccini, Sondheim, Whitacre, Jason Robert Brown, Strayhorn, and others.
