Lake Tahoe
(Fernando Eimbcke, Mexico, 2008, 35mm, 81 min)

In Fernando Eimbckes follow-up to his acclaimed Duck Season, the misadventures of Juan (Diego Catao) begin when he crashes his car into a tree in a small town on the Yucatan. Through the course of his day, he has a series of encounters and takes a few tentative steps into friendship with an old mechanic, a young mother, and the mechanics assistant, who happens to be Bruce Lee's most passionate fan. Minimalist and understated, Lake Tahoe has echoes of Kaurismki and Jarmusch, and a feel of the new Argentine cinema. Mexican director Fernando Eimbcke is assured and confident in his own right.

"Moving... Eimbcke is a master of tone." --Screen Daily
