A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: TumbleWEEDS was inspired by a culmination of my experiences growing up in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was inspired by the event that occurred on October 1st, 2018, in which resulted in one of the largest mass shootings in Las Vegas, Nevada. This play was a love letter to my experiences of adolescence in Las Vegas. That really shaped me into the person I am today. The people I have truly loved or thought I loved. The way art for me was when I was 15. Of making shows or art galleries in rented out industrial garages. With this being said, I also knew I wanted to get back to the basis of what plays were. Taking inspiration from Night! Mother by Marsha Norman, God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza, and The Hoes by Ifeyinwa Frederick, it was important to develop a piece that returned back to the importance of people in a room changing each other through a series of dialogue.
