The mission of the Henry Purcell Society is to present historically informed, vibrant performances of the works of Henry Purcell and his contemporaries. We foster collaborations with other arts organizations to perform the full breadth of Purcell's compositions: the incidental Theater Music, operas and semi-operas (in entertaining realizations of the plays for which they were written), odes, symphony songs written for the Royal Court, sacred and secular songs, and instrumental music. We also educate audiences on the conventions and style of the English Baroque through our concerts, concert notes and website information.
