The Blue Ridge Music Center is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway (Milepost 213 - just south of Galax, VA and just north of Mt. Airy, NC). The Music Center houses the Roots of American Music Museum & Exhibit, a 125 seat indoor theatre, and a 2,500 seat outdoor amphitheater. The Music Center is open mid-May through late October, 10 AM - 5 PM and hosts a weekly Saturday Evening Concert Series(from 7-9 PM)and FREE Mid-Day Mountain Music performances (Noon - 4 PM). The Music Center's focus is to tell the story of the history and heritage of Blue Ridge Mountain Music and Dance(old-time, bluegrass, and country blues)that originated in this area of the country and influenced the development of various contemporary American Music styles.
