Prairieland Punishers Roller Derby

The mission of the Prairieland Punishers is to provide an opportunity for women to learn, compete, and promote womens flat track roller derby in Central Illinois. This womens athletic team is focused on promoting health, wellness, fitness, training, competition, self-growth, community outreach, and sisterhood. We place a high value on personal character, community involvement, and dedication to our sport.
The Prairieland Punishers Roller Derby league is dedicated to creating an inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, color, national origin, age, disability (physical or mental), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, parental status, pregnancy status, marital status, political affiliation, military and veteran status, as well as mental health status, socioeconomic status or background, neuro(a)typicality, or physical appearance.
The Prairieland Punishers league is committed to inclusive and anti-discrimination practices in relation to all transgender women, intersex women, and gender expansive participants, and aims to ensure that all skaters, volunteers, and employees rights are respected and protected. The membership of the league is united by these values, and we celebrate our differences. We will not tolerate sexism, racism, transphobia, or homophobia. We will work continuously to combat the effects of discrimination in our league and in our communities.
All members are expected to make the commitment to call out discrimination when it appears in our communities. We expect that the league will continually work to decolonize our organization, act with integrity and fight racism, transmisogyny, sexism, transphobia, and ableism, and develop a firm understanding of intersectionality and the many ways in which racism contributes to further marginalization of all our communities.
The "Punisher Way" fosters an environment that is safe and positive, so that all skaters can grow and become the empowered persons they were created to be. We value derby as a sacred space where each skater is respected and where we embrace each other's unique and beautiful differences. We are a league which sets a standard for derby in our region and which we are proud to represent as members; that lifts other leagues, referees, and volunteers, and honors their involvement in making derby possible.
