WarHF, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, was founded in 2005 by a sophomore in the natural resources class at Warrenton High School. The vision was to build and channel community support in rebuilding a salmon hatchery that could arm high school students with the best possible hands-on science experience in the Pacific Northwest; this resulted in the construction of the WarHF Rearing and Research Facility.
