Edible Evanston promotes sustainable local food growing and sharing in the Evanston area.
Expanding Gardening &Growing New Gardeners: We provide opportunities for individuals to expand their knowledge of nutrition, growing food, and composting so citizens can experience the benefits of Evanston-raised produce for themselves. Edible Evanston encourages and supports community members in establishing new gardens and promotes seed sharing.
Sharing Excess Produce: We help individual growers get their excess produce to those in need in our community, reducing waste and providing fresh produce to those in need.
Food Growing in Public Green Spaces: Edible Evanston also has a commitment to promote the development and preservation of open green spaces in the urban environment. As part of this, we manage The Eggleston Anniversary Orchard and Food Forest.
