Buffalo Music Hall of Fame

The history of Buffalo Music is as much about the people who have become famous as it is about the continuing contribution to the rich, vibrant culture of Western New York. The immigrants who built the area brought their native music, and through years of blending these cultures, the Buffalo Sound emerged. From the ethnic music of the settlers, to the boom of tavern music in the Erie Canal days, to the rich history of Vaudeville, and to our number one DJ; George %u201CHound Dog%u201D Lorenz, who was based out of Buffalo and was the first in the world to establish a %u201Crock & roll%u201D station, the Buffalo Sound emerged and has flourished. The scene includes such wonderful institutions as the world-renown Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the historic Colored Musicians Club that helped establish Buffalo as one of the great cities of jazz.
